Rockflow appoints Ed Waren as Geological Advisor to strengthen Subsurface Expertise and Field Development Services

October 06, 2025

Rockflow is delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Warren as Geological Advisor, bringing more than 30 years of global upstream oil and gas experience across exploration, field development, mature field re-development, and new well planning.

Ed spent his career with BP in senior technical and leadership roles across the UK, Azerbaijan, Angola, Oman, Russia, Colombia, Trinidad and Venezuela, as well as international joint ventures. He has deep expertise in new well planning and delivery, hopper management, brownfield re-development, and exploration, having worked on some of the industry’s largest and most complex projects from onshore basins to deepwater developments, in environments ranging from desert to arctic.

Most recently, Ed served as Subsurface Advisor for BP Azerbaijan, leading the planning, design and review of new horizontal and multilateral wells for the giant ACG field, and implementing collaborative well planning technologies to improve efficiency. Prior to that, he was BP’s Principal Development Geologist in the UK, acting as global subject matter expert in field appraisal and development, advising on geology strategy, and shaping brownfield and infill well programmes for major assets.

Earlier in his career, Ed held executive and leadership roles including Chief Geologist and Deputy General Director at Yermak Neftegaz, where he oversaw a $150 million exploration programme in Siberia that delivered BP’s largest hydrocarbon discovery in 20 years. He also held Subsurface Manager positions for BP in Oman and Angola, managing multi-rig campaigns, appraisal programmes and large multidisciplinary teams, and contributed to the delivery of some of BP’s most significant deepwater and unconventional developments.

Commenting on his appointment, Ed said, “I am excited to be joining Rockflow’s expert team. Throughout my career I have been passionate about applying rigorous subsurface planning and technology to maximise value from both new wells and mature fields. I look forward to supporting Rockflow’s clients with robust advice in well planning, field development and redevelopment, and helping them make informed, confident decisions.”

Andy Spriggs, CEO of Rockflow, added: “Ed’s outstanding track record across the full E&P lifecycle makes him an exceptional addition to Rockflow’s advisory and expert services practices. His unique experience in new well planning, hopper management, and major brownfield developments will enhance our ability to support clients in both technical assurance and dispute resolution, and strengthen Rockflow’s reputation for independent, trusted expertise.”
